The Patient Revolution School
A course on care specifically for health journalists
We are looking for journalists and journalism students interested in reporting health care stories to join our course and help us shape a curriculum and pathway to telling more stories about care.
Journalists are uniquely positioned to influence the future of health care. They can ask critical questions, make the realities and burdens of care visible, examine the systemic forces that shape care, strengthen transparency and accountability, and foster public understanding and dialogue that can inspire change.

Anyone who believes that the status quo in healthcare today is humanly unsustainable and who wants to be part of creating a future where careful and kind care is the foundation of healthcare design, delivery and payment models.
Individual patients, caregivers, clinicians, educators, researchers, executives, policymakers, media, elected officials, vendors, innovators and inventors are all welcome and encouraged to join the movement for care by taking this introductory course.

Cohorts reflect the diverse perspectives of people from across the healthcare continuum, including professional expertise and personal lived experiences. The course is offered on-line so is accessible to people from all over the world with many different lived experiences. In each module;
Learners contribute personal reflections, stories, and interact virtually with one another.
A Community Call convenes all learners together in a “live” call to build community and explore topics more in depth that are of interest to the group.
Near the end of the course, each learner also has a 1:1 coaching session as they map out their proposed Mini Revolution.

The Foundations of Care experience takes about 10 hours spread out over four weeks. The cohort starts and finishes in sync, but learners are invited to complete the modules on their own time, contributing to the on-line community conversation as they move through the material.

Yes. Multiple participants from a single entity are welcome. It is a wonderful learning opportunity to experience with others who might not be in the same position, department, or discipline. These participants will have a shared experience of the course with each other, and will learn from others in the cohort who are outside their organization.

Yes. Patients and caregivers from inside and outside a given organization are welcome and add great value to the learning experience for all.

The standard individual experience - 4 facilitated modules, community call, and 1:1 coaching session - are offered on a sliding fee scale from $0-200/per person.
The custom group cohort experience is priced based on the goals and objectives of the cohort leader and participants. An additional investment will allow the group cohort access to all of the above, plus:
Pre-course discovery (2 hours). Initial meeting with team lead. Second meeting with the cohort enrollees from your organization to understand pain points and goals for taking the course.
Private Community Call with your team (1.5 hours)
Group Mini Revolution discussion and coaching (Two 1-hour post course discussions and individual coaching as requested).

Boards That Care
Created by The Patient Revolution, Boards That Care is an innovative program that supports healthcare organization Board members and executives in their important role as stewards of care.
Designed to complement traditional board training, Boards That Care helps participants understand the urgent need to turn away from industrial healthcare by highlighting voices and perspectives from across the healthcare ecosystem.
Boards That Care draws connections between care and increasingly common issues including physician burnout, staff turnover and patient satisfaction scores, provides practical approaches to discussing care alongside financial and operational topics, and offers a vision of careful and kind care that supports patients, clinicians and the communities they serve.
