Dr. Ximena Benavides

Dr. Ximena Benavides is an incoming Assistant Professor of Legal Studies at the University of Georgia, Terry College of Business. At Yale University, her latest positions were Resident Fellow at the Information Society Project at Yale Law School, Affiliated Faculty at the Yale Institute for Global Health, and Postdoctoral and Lecturer in Ethics, Politics & Economics at the Department of Political Science, where she taught Healthcare Business Ethics.

Her research focuses on the intersections of law, ethics, and political economy, examining incentive structures and the institutional design and governance of information and industrial policies in the life sciences to promote innovation and equitable access to health technologies.

Before entering academia, Dr. Benavides practiced international corporate law and investment arbitration at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP in New York, and corporate finance at CMS Grau in Lima, where she represented Latin American governments, international organizations, and industry clients. She also led the legal offices of Inteligo, the trading and investment bank divisions of Intercorp, where she later served as a Board Member and Diversity Advisor. She worked with GAVI – The Covax Vaccine Alliance during the global distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Dr. Benavides earned her J.S.D. and LL.M. from Yale Law School and her LL.B. and B.A. from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
