Ovey Yeung is a communications, product, and innovation consultant with nearly two decades of cross-sector experience spanning startups, government transformation, digital health, and patient advocacy. She led the Host City’s first digital-first communications strategy for the 2010 Winter Olympics and helped launch ELLE.com in New York City. Ovey has built and scaled early-stage startups, worked on AI and blockchain projects, and supported emerging technology initiatives across sectors. In government, she led digital and innovation work with the BC Ministry of Health, Ministry of Citizens’ Services, and Ministry of Social Development.

In 2014, a life-altering hit-and-run left Ovey in a coma with a severe traumatic brain injury. Her recovery journey—through years of rehab, cognitive re-learning, and navigating disjointed systems—sparked a shift in her life’s work. As a patient and caregiver, she has since become a vocal advocate for more relational, integrated care grounded in lived experience.

Ovey has spoken at national and international gatherings including TEDxSFU, Digital Health Canada, Brain Injury Canada’s National Conference, and UBC Health’s Bridging Research and Action Conference. She serves on advisory groups related to digital health, AI ethics, and patient data governance.

She is the writer behind The Patient Voices (thepatientvoices.substack.com), a narrative series exploring untold healthcare stories from patients, families, and caregivers. Through storytelling, she advocates for systems rooted in dignity, trust, and care.

Beyond her advocacy, Ovey is an avid golfer, tennis and ultimate frisbee player. She hikes to enjoy nature and long conversations—always seeking meaning, movement, and moments that matter.
