Billy McLaughlin
Care in Concert
Billy McLaughlin is an internationally recognized, world-class guitarist, Emmy winning composer, inspirational performer, and Billboard Top Ten artist. Previously signed to Virgin Records, Billy has 14 CD releases and numerous musical awards.
In 1999, McLaughlin’s career crumbled when symptoms from a little-known neuro-muscular disorder, eventually diagnosed as Focal Dystonia, plagued him. Suffering years without a cure, he eventually embarked on an unlikely comeback by re-learning his instrument left-handed. Experts said it couldn’t be done but he proved them wrong. His remarkable journey is captured in the documentary, Changing Keys, and concert film, Coming Back Alive.
A Dystonia Medical Research Foundation “Ambassador for Awareness,” Billy is a recipient of the Public Leadership in Neurology Award, along-side previous winners Julie Andrews and Michael J. Fox.
